Yankton Bucks Football advanced to the Class 11-AA Playoff Semi-Finals last night with a 28-6 win over Aberdeen Central.

Yankton senior Matthew Sheldon recorded two touchdowns in the win, one rushing and another on a pick-6.

The top-seeded Bucks will host the #4 seed Pierre Governors next Friday night in a rematch of last year’s state championship game. The winner will return to the DakotaDome to compete for a title again this year.

Mount Marty Volleyball Head Coach Sophia Lobo Paes has been named a recipient of the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s (AVCA) Diversity Award

Paes is originally from Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil, and is in her first season as head coach of the Lancers after previously serving as an assistant.

Under Paes, the Lancers are 12-13 on the year, recording the most wins in a single season since 2014. Paes is one of 33 recipients of the AVCA Diversity Award.

Paes and the Lancers return home tomorrow for a match with Hastings College. First serve is scheduled for 5:00 PM.

Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Basketball are in action today, with the Men hosting Mayville State while the Women take on Barclay University.

The Lancer Men are 2-0 on the year, outscoring their first two opponents 181-117. The Lancers Women are also undefeated at 1-0, opening their season with an 80-39 win over Faith Baptist last Friday.

The Men are scheduled to play first at 6:00 PM with the women to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 5:30.

Crofton Warriors Football is set to host Thayer Central tonight in the Class D1 State Playoffs.

Crofton is the #3 seed following their 64-22 win over Bloomfield last week. Thayer Central defeated Johnson-Brock in their last game, 36-30.

Cedar Catholic Trojans football begins their postseason this evening, hosting Oakland-Craig in Hartington.

The Trojans are the #7 seed in Class C2, ending the regular season with a 7-2 overall record. Oakland-Craig is the #10 seed with a 6-3 record.

Mount Marty Football returns home tomorrow afternoon to host the Midland Warriors at Crane-Youngworth Field.

The Lancers are 4-4 on the year, 3-4 in GPAC play, following last week’s 31-27 road loss to Concordia.

Defending Class 9-B State Champions Avon were eliminated from the postseason last night, suffering a 16-8 loss to Canistota.

Brady Scott recorded both scores for Canistota, one on the ground and one through the air on a pass to Easton Miller.

Avon was led by Aziah Meyer, rushing for 195 yards and a touchdown. The loss ends Avon’s season with an 8-2 overall record. Canistota moves on to face Sully Butte in the Class 9-B Semi-Finals.

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits return to the gridiron tomorrow afternoon to host Murray State at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium.

The Jackrabbits are 6-2 on the year following last week’s 20-17 overtime win over in-state rivals South Dakota.

Kickoff from Brookings is scheduled for 2:00 PM tomorrow afternoon.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are on the road tomorrow for a Big 10 matchup with UCLA.

The Huskers are 5-3 on the year following back-to-back losses to top-15 opposition in Indiana and Ohio State.
