South Dakota Senator John Thune has been named the next U.S. Senate Majority Leader.
Thune says that he is extremely honored to have earned the support of his colleagues to lead the Senate.
Thune says that this is a major victory for South Dakota.
Thune will succeed Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell in the role.
