Mount Marty Volleyball had three players recognized by the Great Plains Athletic Conference yesterday, led by 2nd-Team All-Conference Selection Tevan Erickson.
Erickson is a freshman setter for MMU who posted 987 assists, 19 aces 62 kills 282 digs, and 46 blocks.
Junior Julia Weber and freshman Caitlin Guenther were also honored for MMU, both earning All-Conference Honorable Mentions. Weber led the Lancers with 310 kills on the year, while Guenther led MMU in blocks with 77 total and 27 solo.
The Lancers finished their 2024 campaign with a 12-15 overall record.
Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Basketball will be on the road tonight, taking on Midland in Fremont, Nebraska.
The Lancer men and women both look to get back into the win column after opening GPAC play with losses to Northwestern last weekend.
The women will play first at 6:00 PM with the men to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT begins at 5:30. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.
Yankton Bucks Basketball Coach Chris Haynes will be the featured guest speaker at today’s Yankton Quarterback Club Meeting.
Haynes will preview the upcoming Bucks Basketball season, which tips off on December 13th.
A paid meal will be available at 11:15, with the meeting beginning at noon at the River Rock Event Center in Yankton. The public is invited to attend.
The Great Plains High School Conference released their All-Conference selections yesterday, with athletes from Avon, Gayville-Volin, and Irene-Wakonda all being honored.
For Avon, Aziah Meyer, Landon Mudder, Al’Shamon Gunter, and Randall Powers were selected with Trenton Soukup earning an honorable mention.
For Gayville-Volin, Spencer Karstens made the list with Carter Barron earning an honorable mention.
For Irene-Wakonda, Jens Hansen earned a nod with Max Pollman as an honorable mention.
The Gayville-Volin Raiders enter the South Dakota Class B State Volleyball Tournament as the #6 seed with a 29-4 record.
This is the 2nd State Tournament appearance for the Raiders in school history, making their debut in the tournament last season.
Gayville-Volin will face Hitchcock-Tulare at 6:45 PM tomorrow in round one. Matches for all three classes will be held at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls. Round one matchups for Classes AA, A, and B are listed below.

South Dakota Men’s Basketball is on the road tonight, taking on Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, MI.
USD is 4-1 on the season, with Isaac Bruns leading the team in scoring at 14 points per game, followed by Kaleb Stewart at 12.2, and Chase Forte at 12.

South Dakota Women’s Basketball returns to the hardwood tomorrow night to host North Carolina Central in Vermillion.
USD picked up their first win of the season on Monday, defeating Bellevue University 74-50.

South Dakota State Men’s Basketball returns to action tonight to host Southern Miss in Brookings.
The Jackrabbits are 3-1 on the year following a victory over Mount Marty on Monday. This is SDSU’s final game before the Cayman Islands Classic in Grand Caymen next week.
