Yankton County has adopted a new flood plain ordinance.
County Commissioner, Dan Klimisch, voiced his displeasure for the ordinance, calling it a huge overreach by the federal government.
Commission Chair, John Marquardt, says that the county had to adopt the ordinance in order to be eligible for flood insurance.
The flood plain ordinance will not go into effect until February 14th, 2025.
