Yankton Gazelles Basketball opens their 2024-25 campaign tonight, taking on the Sioux Falls Lincoln Patriots in Sioux Falls.

The Gazelles finished last season with a 5-16 overall record. This is the first season for Yankton under new head coach Blake Savey (Savvy).

Tip-off from Lincoln High School is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 6:30. Bryce Ladwig will be on the call.

Yankton Bucks Wrestling is 1-1 on the year after falling to Watertown 47-25, and defeating Beresford/Alcester-Hudson (BAH) 51-27 in last night’s triangular.

Against Watertown, Colton Archer, Damian Janish, Bode Thurman, Shayce Platt, and Peyton Eustace all picked up wins. In their dual with BAH, all five were victorious again, as were Joelton Reimnitz-Hahn, Corbin Sayler, and Derrick Biel.

Next up for the Bucks is a tournament on Saturday in Watertown. Watertown, Yankton, Aberdeen Central, Huron, Mitchell, Milbank, and Tea Area will all compete.

Yankton Gazelles Wrestling is 2-0 to start their year in duals, winning 36-30 over Watertown and 36-24 over Beresford/Alcester-Hudson (BAH).

Against Watertown, Alexis Brenden picked up a pinfall victory, the Arrows only rostered four girls wrestlers for the tournament. Chloe Caton was victorious in her match in the dual with BAH.

The Gazelles are back in action this afternoon in Watertown for an individual tournament. Matches are scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM.

Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Basketball return home tomorrow afternoon to host the Dordt Defenders inside Cimpl Arena.

Both Lancer squads are looking to get back into the win column after they were swept by Doane in a doubleheader on Wednesday. 

The women are scheduled to play first at 2:00 PM with the men to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 1:15. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.

Yankton Bucks Hockey returns to the ice tonight to host the Sioux Center Storm inside the  Kiwanis 4-H Center and Ice Arena.

Yankton is 3-1 to start 2024, coming off a 6-4 win over Mitchell last Saturday. Sioux Center enters tonight’s contest with a 0-3 record.

Puck drop is scheduled for 8:00 PM this evening.

Mount Marty Indoor Track and Field begins their season today with the South Dakota State Holiday Open & Multi’s.

Today is day one of the two-day meet. Events will be held at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings beginning at 12:30 PM.

South Dakota Volleyball had their season come to an end last night with a 3-0 loss to the #2 seed Creighton in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

Kylen Sealock led USD with 9 kills and 3 total blocks in the loss. Morgan Bode added 3 blocks as well, along with 4 kills.

USD ends the season with a 21-10 overall record and a Summit League Tournament Championship.

South Dakota State Volleyball opens the NCAA Tournament this afternoon, taking on #8-seeded Miami in Lincoln, Nebraska.

SDSU enters the tournament with a 27-2 overall record, including a 15-1 record in Summit League Play. Miami is 21-10 on the year and finished 12-8 in ACC play.

First serve from the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, NE, is scheduled for 4:30 PM.

South Dakota Football plays their first game of the FCS Playoffs tomorrow, hosting #14 Tarleton State in the 2nd round.

USD earned a 1st round bye as the #4 seed following a 9-2 regular season that saw them claim a share of the Missouri Valley Football Conference Championship for the first time since jumping to the D1 level.

Kickoff from the DakotaDome is scheduled for 2:00 PM tomorrow.

South Dakota State Football is set to host Montana tomorrow afternoon in a rematch of last year’s FCS National Championship Game.

SDSU finished the regular season with a 10-2 record and a share of the Missouri Valley Football Conference Championship, earning the #3 seed in the playoffs.

Kickoff from Dana J. Dykehouse Stadium is scheduled for 1:00 PM tomorrow.

South Dakota Men’s and Women’s Basketball wrap up the Big Sky-Summit Challenge tomorrow afternoon, with a home and home against Northern Arizona.

The men will play in Flagstaff, Arizona beginning at 1:00 PM, while the women will host inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center, beginning at 11:00 AM.

South Dakota State Men’s and Women’s Basketball will also wrap up the Big Sky-Summit Challenge tomorrow afternoon, with the men taking on Eastern Washington, while the women play Montana.

The men will host Eastern Washington inside First Bank & Trust Arena at 6:00 PM tomorrow night, while the women will take on Montana in Missoula, Montana, beginning at 3:00 PM central.

  • Crofton topped Tri County Northeast 63-51.

  • Bloomfield was defeated by Wynot 38-34
  • Crofton beat Tri County Northeast 86-9.
