Watertown Man Facing Charges in Yankton High School Shooting

A Watertown man is facing charges in the officer involved shooting that occurred in the Yankton High School parking lot Thursday night.

South Dakota Attorney General, Marty Jackley, is reporting that Andrew Jondahl, 40, was in Yankton for a wrestling meet when law enforcement was called to the high school.

Jackley says that officers arrived on the scene shortly before 8 p.m. and engaged in a discussion with Jondahl.

Officers identified that Jondahl had two weapons on his person and that the situation escalated to the point where two of the officers on the scene fired shots and struck Jondahl multiple times.

Jackley says that Jondahl is in serious, but not life-threatening condition.

Jackley says that charges will be coming, but are waiting while Jondahl is going through medical procedures.
