A Yankton man has pled not guilty in connection with a stabbing death in Yankton on December 13th, 2024.
Theodore Kranig Jr pled not guilty to charges of 2nd-degree murder and 1st-degree manslaughter during a court appearance on Thursday morning.
The charge of 2nd-degree murder carries a mandatory life sentence with no option of parole and a fine of up to $50,000. The charge of 1st-degree manslaughter carries a penalty of up to life in prison with the possibility of parole and a fine of up to $50,000.
Kranig’s trial has been set for the week of June 9th, 2025. His next court appearance is currently scheduled to be a status hearing on May 8th at the Yankton County Courthouse.
