Nichols Court Appearance Moved to January 23rd

The court appearance today for the man facing charges in a homicide in Yankton last Thursday has been moved.

South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says that Heather Ann Bodden, 41, was found dead in an apartment around 3 p.m. last Thursday.

Bodden’s boyfriend, Craig Nichols, 32, has been arrested and charged with Second-Degree Murder, First-Degree Manslaughter, and two counts of contempt of court.

According to court records, three friends of Bodden went to the apartment to check on Bodden after receiving a message from her that Nichols had threatened her with a weapon the day before.

Upon entry into the apartment, the friends discovered Bodden’s decapitated body.

Court records show that Bodden’s head, along with bloody clothes, weapons, and underwear labeled with the name “Craig N” were found in a trash bag at the victim’s apartment, with surveillance video showing Nichols exiting and entering the apartment multiple times with trash bags.

Nichols is set to appear in court on Thursday, January 23rd at 9 a.m. in Yankton.
