The Yankton School District and the Yankton Police Department released a joint statement Friday in regards to a series of scam phone calls in the area.
Yankton School District Superintendent, Dr. Wayne Kindle, says that the calls falsely claim that a child is missing or kidnapped and eventually lead to the caller asking for payments or sensitive information.
Kindle says that if someone were to receive a call like this, they should call their child’s school and the Yankton Police Department immediately.
