Yankton Bucks Basketball went 0-2 over the weekend, falling to Watertown on Friday 56-54, and O’Gorman on Saturday, 66-43.

Against Watertown, Carson Ness led Yankton with 17 points in the loss, adding 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Ness would lead the Bucks again against O’Gorman with 11 points. Austin Conway added 10 points off the bench.

The Bucks are back in action tomorrow night in Sioux Falls, taking on Sioux Falls Jefferson. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM with pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV beginning at 6:30. Brayden Butler will be on the call.

Yankton Gazelles Basketball fell to Watertown and O’Gorman over the weekend, losing to the Arrows on Friday 58-46 and to the Knights on Saturday 80-23.

Eden Wolfgram led Yankton against Watertown, ending the game with 28 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 steals. Burkley Olson scored a team-high 6 against O’Gorman, followed by 5 from Josslyn Elwood.

The Gazelles are back in action tomorrow night, hosting Sioux Falls Jefferson. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM with pregame coverage on KYNTV beginning at 6:30. Bryce Ladwig will be on the call.

Mount Marty Men’s Basketball had their late comeback fall short on Saturday, losing to in-state rivals Dakota Wesleyan.

The Lancer men trailed by 17 with 10 minutes to play, before outscoring the Tigers 34-21 down the stretch to cut the deficit to 4, but late free throws sealed the game for DWU, 76-70.

Damon Opdahl led MMU with 15 points in the loss. Tash Lunday added 11, while Jared Lopez recorded a 10-point 10-rebound double-double.

The Lancers are back in action on Wednesday as part of a men’s and women’s doubleheader against Midland inside Cimpl Arena.

Mount Marty Women’s Basketball were defeated by their in-state rivals Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday, 82-58.

Emma Jarovski was the lone Lancer in double figures with 10 points. Alexis Folkers added 9 while Kaela Martinez and Alexus Motley ended with 8.

The Lancers are back in action on Wednesday as part of a men’s and women’s doubleheader against Midland inside Cimpl Arena.

Mount Marty Indoor Track and Field took the top spot in six events at their home meet over the weekend, sweeping the multi-event competitions.

The Lancer women claimed the top 2 spots in three different competitions. Josey Wahlstrom won the pentathlon followed by Ashinee George. Zelie Sorenson was 1st in the 200-meter Alexis Even in 2nd. Mya Zohner also took 1st in the pole vault followed by Paige Clausen in 2nd.

The Lancer men were led by Logan Ferrari who set a new school record with a time of 14 minutes, 50.21 seconds in the 5,000. Joseph Cross picked up a win in the 3,000, while Jonathan van Lien won the heptathlon.

Next up for the Lancers is the  Concordia Classic & Multis in Seward, Nebraska on January 24th and 25th.

Yankton Gazelles Wrestling placed 7th out of 33 teams at Friday’s Harrisburg Invitational Girls’ Wrestling Tournament, held at Harrisburg High School.

Yankton scored 62 points as a team. Winry Yaggie placed 3rd at 145 pounds. Chloe Caton, 100 pounds, and Alexis Brenden, 120 points, each finished 4th, and Bailey Groetken placed 5th at 152 pounds for the Gazelles.

Yankton is now off until their home triangular on January 28th.

Yankton Gazelles Gymnastics placed 7th as a team at Friday’s Huron Gymnastics Invitational, hosted at Huron Arena.

Yankton scored a season-high 134.95 to claim 7th place. Yankton had a pair of gymnasts finish top-15 in the all-around competition. Marissa Byrkeland tied for 11th while Emma Gobel tied for 14th.

Yankton is back in action tomorrow for a dual with the Vermillion Tanagers at Vermillion High School. Events begin at 5:30 PM.

Yankton Bucks and Gazelles High School Club Bowling split their matchups with Brookings on Saturday. The Bucks won 31-19 while the Gazelles fell 28-22.

The Bucks were led by Liam Villanueva, who rolled a 257 high game and 731 series. Parker Kisch followed with a 265 high game and 701 series.

For the Gazelles, Maci Weverstad posted a 189 high game and 555 series, while Avery Turner had a high game 237 and a 543 series.

Yankton is back on the lanes this afternoon, taking on Sioux Falls Christian at Empire Bowl in Sioux Falls beginning at 4:00 PM.

South Dakota Men’s Basketball had their run of 10-straight home wins snapped on Saturday, falling to North Dakota State 103-77.

Isaac Bruns led the Coyotes in scoring with 17 points. Chase Forte added 15 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and a pair of steals.

USD will be in Grand Forks on Thursday for their next game, taking on the North Dakota Fightin’ Hawks.

South Dakota State Men’s Basketball defeated Oral Roberts on Saturday 84-70 inside First Bank & Trust Arena.

Oscar Cluff had 21 points and 20 rebounds for SDSU. Joe Sayler, 17 points, Kalen Garry and Matthew Mors, 11 points each, and Owen Larson, 10 points, also scored in double figures.

SDSU returns to the courts on Thursday for a road matchup with Kansas City.

South Dakota State Women’s Basketball improved to 15-3 on Saturday with an 87-73 win over North Dakota.

Brooklyn Meyer posted 30 points in the win. Madison Mathiowetz added 14 points and 8 rebounds for the Jacks.

SDSU hits the road on Wednesday for their next game, taking on St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.
