Mount Marty Men’s Basketball secured a spot in the GPAC Tournament on Saturday with an 80-69 win over Briar Cliff.

Tash Lunday led the Lancers with a 24 point, 11 rebound double-double. Rugby Ryken, Jared Lopez, and Sutton Arend (Air-end) each added 10 points for the Lancers.

Mount Marty is currently 8th in the standings with a 7-12 GPAC record with one game remaining in their regular season, at home against Concordia next Saturday afternoon.

Mount Marty Women’s Basketball fell to the #5 ranked Briar Cliff Chargers on Saturday, 93-70.

Sidney Thue led the Lancers with 22 points and 6 rebounds in the loss, followed by a 14 point outing by Emma Jarovski.

The Lancer women are on the road on Wednesday to take on the College of St. Mary in Omaha. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM with pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV beginning at 5:15. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.

Yankton Bucks Basketball went 1-1 over the weekend in thor Rapid City swing against Central and Stevens.

The Bucks defeated Stevens on Friday 47-44 thanks to a three-pointer at the buzzer from Freshman Jackson Kudera.

Yankton ended their trip on Saturday with a matchup against Rapid City Central. The Bucks would fall to the Cobblers 58-50.

Yankton is back in action tomorrow for a boys and girls doubleheader against Sioux Falls Christian. The girls play first at 6:00 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 5:30. Bryce Ladwig will be on the call.

Yankton Gazelles Basketball went 0-2 in Rapid City over the weekend, falling to Rapid City Stevens 68-42 and Rapid City Central 61-49.

With four games remaining, the Gazelles are currently outside of a SoDak 16 spot, ranked 19th in Class AA.

Yankton is back in action tomorrow for a boys and girls doubleheader against Sioux Falls Christian. The girls play first at 6:00 PM.

Mount Marty Indoor Track and Field athlete Logan Ferrari claimed a Conference title in the 5,000 at this past weekend’s GPAC Championships in Mitchell.

Ferrari posted a time of 14:59.40 to win the 5,000. He also took 3rd in the 3,000. Also for the Lancers, Alexis Even set a pair of new school records. Even placed 2nd in the 200 in 25.47 seconds and 4th in the 60 in 7.78 seconds to break the records.

In total, 14 Lancers earned All-GPAC honors, as the women finished 4th as a team with the men in 6th.

Mount Marty Baseball had their planned series against Clarke University postponed this past weekend.

The Lancers now set their sights on the home opener this coming weekend, a four game series with Peru State on February 22nd and 23rd at Riverside Field.

Mount Marty Softball is now 3-5 on the season after going 2-2 over the weekend in Sioux Center Iowa.

The Lancers won both games on Friday, defeating Minnesota Croostan 2-1 and Dakota State 7-4.

MMU dropped both of their Saturday contests, 11-3 to Valley City State and 4-3 to Dickinson State.

The Lancers are back in Sioux Center this weekend for four games. MMU takes on Dakota State, Mayville State, and William Penn twice on Friday and Saturday.

South Dakota and South Dakota State renewed their rivalry on the hardwood this weekend in Men’s and Women’s Basketball.

The women met on Saturday in Brookings, with the Jackrabbits defending their home court with a 71-61 win. SDSU was led by a 23 point performance from Paige Meyer. Grace Larkins finished just shy of a triple-double for the Coyotes with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists.

The men had their game on Sunday in Vermillion with SDSU handing USD their 2nd home loss of the season, 94-91. Oscar Cluff had 21 points and 6 rebound a double-double, while Yankton alum Matthew Mors had 15 points and 4 boards. The Coyotes were led by Isaac Bruns and Dre Bullock who finished with 21 and 20 points respectively in the loss.
