The City of Yankton has created an inventory of lead service lines and galvanized pipes in Yankton following directions from the Environmental Protection Agency.
Kyle Goodmanson, the Director of Environmental Services for the City of Yankton, says the rule requires the city to inspect at the home and underground.
Goodmanson says that the lead service lines could be a potential health risk very similar to Flint, Michigan, but says that the data suggests that water in Yankton is not corrosive.
Goodmanson says that 91 lead lines have been verified in Yankton, and letters will be sent to those addresses either late this week or early next week.
