Yankton coach Robyn Murphy has been selected as the Dance Coach of the Year by the South Dakota High School Coaches Association.
Murphy led Yankton to a 3rd place finish at the state championships this past fall in her first season as Gazelles’ head coach.
Coach of the Year honorees will be recognized at the SDHSCA awards banquet, on July 20th at the Mitchell Career & Technical Education Academy Performing Art Center.
The GPAC baseball doubleheader between Mount Marty and Waldorf originally scheduled for Sunday in Forest City, Iowa will now take place today in Yankton.
The Lancers are 12-8 overall, 1-3 in conference play, after they split their doubleheader with Doane last Sunday.

South Dakota State Women’s Basketball begins their NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament journey tomorrow, taking on Oklahoma State in round one.
SDSU is the #10 seed in their quadrant. They’ll take on #7 Oklahoma State with the winner advancing to the round of 32.
Tip-off from Storrs, Connecticut, home of the UConn Huskies, is scheduled for 3:30 Eastern/2:30 Central on Saturday afternoon.
The Northwestern Red Raiders had their men’s basketball season come to an end last night in the NAIA National Tournament Round of 16 with a 73-70 loss to Georgetown.
Northwestern was the final GPAC representative in the NAIA tournament. They end their season with a 27-6 record.
Two of the three remaining GPAC teams in the NAIA Women’s Basketball Tournament were in action today. Dordt advanced to the Quarterfinals while Hastings had their season come to an end.
Dordt defeated Langston 55-51 to move on, while Hastings fell to Bethel 78-70 to end their season.
Briar Cliff will be in action today to round out GPAC teams in the round of 16, taking on Mid-American Christian at 8:00 PM in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Omaha Mavericks had their season come to an end last night with an 83-53 loss to St. Johns in the opening round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Omaha was the lone Summit League team in this year’s tournament. They finish their season as the Summit League Champions with a 22-13 overall record, 13-3 in conference play.
