Yankton Bucks Baseball opened their 2025 season last night with a 13-1 win over Irene-Wakonda.
Mark Kathol got the win on the mound, striking out four batters over two innings of work. Samuel Gokie, Tate Beste, and Trey Sager recorded two hits in the win.
Yankton returns to the diamond on Friday, taking on Lennox at Riverside Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
Mount Marty Softball travels to Sioux City, Iowa today to make up a pair of games against Briar Cliff.
The Lancers are 9-15 on the year, 0-6 in GPAC play, while the Chargers are 6-14 overall, 0-4 in conference play.

The two-day event will be hosted by Wayne State University, with events set to begin on Friday, March 28th.
South Dakota State Women’s Basketball had their season come to an end last night in the 2nd round of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.
SDSU fell to #2 seed UConn in the round of 32, 91-57. Paige Meyer led the Jackrabbits with 16 points and 4 rebounds in the loss.
SDSU ends the year with a 30-4 overall record, including a perfect 16-0 in Summit League play.
Yankton High School will host a Spring Sports Kickoff tonight. Food and drinks will be served at 5:30 with spring athletics coaches scheduled to speak at 6:00. The event will be held in the YHS commons. The public is invited to attend.
The Dordt Defenders will represent the GPAC in the NAIA Women’s Basketball National Championship game tonight, following their 84-52 win over Bethel last night.
Janie Van Donge recorded a double-double in the win, posting 20 points and 16 rebounds for the Defenders.
Dordt will face Indiana Wesleyan in the National Championship game tonight at 7:00 PM at the Tyson Event Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Briar Cliff Chargers fell a point short of an all-GPAC National Championship, as they lost to Indiana Wesleyan last night 70-69 in the NAIA Women’s Basketball Tournament Semifinals.
Mallie McNair led the Chargers with 18 points in the loss. Grace Flanagan, 13, and Kennedy Benne, 12, also scored in double figures.
Briar Cliff ends their 2024-25 season with a 30-6 overall record, 18-4 in GPAC play.
