Yankton Bucks Baseball split their doubleheader with the Brookings Bobcats last night at Riverside Field.
Yankton took game one 6-1 over Brookings. Gavin Johnson led the team with four RBIs and a pair of hits.
In game two, Yankton was held to four hits as a team and fell to the Bobcats 1-0. After the loss, Yankton is now 4-1 on the season.
The Bucks are back in action tomorrow night, hosting Sioux Falls Jefferson for a doubleheader. The first pitch of game one is scheduled for 5:00 PM at Riverside Field, with pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV beginning at 4:15.
Mount Marty Baseball closed out their four-game series with Dakota Wesleyan yesterday, winning the final two games to finish 3-1 against the Tigers.
The Lancers didn’t allow a run in either game, winning game one 4-0. MMU was led by a two-RBI day from Will Gardner, who had a two-run home run to open the scoring. Slayder Watterson allowed only two hits over six innings for the win on the mound.
Game two ended 11-0 for the Lancers. Eight different Lancers recorded an RBI in the win, led by two each from Cooper Mlnarik and Kannon Dumont. Palmer Jacobs allowed just two hits over six innings for the win on the mound.
The Lancers host Concordia on Wednesday for a doubleheader at Riverside Field. The first pitch of game one is set for 4:00 PM.
Mount Marty Softball improved to 16-16 on Sunday with a two-game sweep of Waldorf in Forest City, Iowa.
The Lancers took game one 2-1. Kayleen Jacinto finished 2 for 4 at the plate with an RBI. McKenzie Gray pitched a complete game for the win on the mound.
The Lancers put up eight in game two to win 8-1. Lilinoe Nihi had four RBIs in the win, including a three-run home run in the 5th inning. Makayla Graunke pitched the complete game for the win on the mound.
The Lancers host Hastings for a GPAC doubleheader on Wednesday at Sertoma Park in Yankton. Game one begins at 3:00 PM.
Yankton Gazelles Softball hosts Aberdeen Central tonight for a Class AA matchup at Sertoma Park.
The Gazelles are 0-1 on the year after having last week’s game against Watertown postponed. Aberdeen Central will play their first game of the year tonight.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM tonight at Sertoma Park in Yankton.
Yankton Bucks Tennis hosts a varsity triangular today against Mitchell and Brandon Valley at Yankton High School.
Today’s triangular was originally scheduled to take place on April 4th but had to be postponed due to weather.
Yankton will face Mitchell at 11:00 AM and Brandon Valley at 3:00 PM.
Yankton Track and Field has a varsity triangular tomorrow afternoon against Sioux City East and Sioux Falls Washington.
Events will be held at Williams Field. Field events begin at 3:45 with running events starting at 4:00.
Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Golf travels to Mitchell today for day one of the Dakota Wesleyan Spring Invite.
The two-day event will be held at Lakeview Golf Course. Today’s action begins at 9:00 AM.
Mount Marty Track and Field placed multiple athletes in the top 5 of this past weekend’s Concordia Invite, led by a 1st place finish in the men’s shot put for Luke Rettedal.
Rettedal threw 16.31 meters to take 1st. Also for the Lancer men, Carson Conway was 2nd in the 800 followed by Owen Koontz in 5th. Cooper Grotenhuis (Gro-ten-hice) placed 3rd in the triple jump with James Deseh taking 5th.
Freshman Isabella Ramsgard led the Lancer women with a 2nd-place finish in the 5,000. Alexus Motley placed 5th in the javelin.
Next up for the Lancers are the Sioux City Relays this Friday and Saturday in Sioux City.
