Due to today’s forecasted weather, the Yankton School District has announced changes to several athletic activities.
Yankton Gazelles Softball has postponed their game with O’Gorman from this afternoon to May 2nd. The game will begin at 6:00 PM at Sertoma Park.
The Yankton Gazelles Golf Quad in Harrisburg has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.
The Yankton Bucks Tennis dual against Harrisburg has been postponed to tomorrow. Matches will be held at Yankton High School at 11:00 AM.
Yankton Bucks Baseball is currently scheduled to host Sturgis in a Class A doubleheader.
The Bucks have won five straight games, including back-to-back two-game sweeps of Huron and Spearfish.
First pitch of game one from Riverside Field is set for 5:00 PM tonight. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 4:15. Bryce Ladwig and Brayden Butler will be on the call.
Mount Marty’s Kelsey Heath has been named the Women’s Golfer of the Week by the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
Heath recently took the top spot out of 86 golfers at the Kaitlyn Erickson Invitational and tied for third at the Bent Tree Intercollegiate earlier this week.
This is the first time this season and the third time in her career that Heath has earned a GPAC weekly honor.
The GPAC Men’s Tennis tournament begins today in Sioux City, and the Mount Marty Lancers will have a first-round bye as the #2 overall seed.
The Lancers will face the winner of #3 Concordia vs #6 Doane in the semifinals at approximately 3:00 PM.
Today’s matches will be played indoors at the First Serve Tennis Center in South Sioux City, Nebraska.
Mount Marty Track and Field claimed three event victories at yesterday’s Mount Marty Twilight Meet at Williams Field.
Luke Rettedal took 1st in the men’s shot put with a throw of 16.78 meters, Yankton alum Cooper Grotenhuis won the men’s triple jump, clearing 13.20 meters, and Zelie Sorensen won the women’s 200 meter in 25.03 seconds, 0.4 seconds ahead of her teammate Alexis Even in 2nd.
The Lancers are scheduled to be split today between the Drak Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola, Iowa.
