South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has issued an executive order to merge the state departments of agriculture and natural resources. The order created the South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, which she says will be a one-stop shop for farmers and ranchers and will save money for the state.
The South Dakota Farm Bureau praised the move, but other farm groups opposed the merger saying it impacted the protection of resources including water, oil and soil.
