There may still be more rolling blackouts in the Yankton area over the next 24 hours because of the extreme cold. The Southwest Power Poll which manages the power grid over 14 states declared a Level 2 alert yesterday and instigated numerous rolling blackouts of power in the region to avoid a long interruption of service.
Mount Marty University in Yankton cancelled classes on Tuesday afternoon, Avera Sacred Heart Hospital took measures to ensure power supply, and the Vermillion area is prepared for a possible blackout this morning.
