Yankton Sophomore Eden Wolfgram has been selected as a Class AA All-State Honorable Mention by the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association.

Wolfram led the Gazelles in scoring this past season. She averaged 16.6 points per game, as well as 4 rebounds per game.

Vermillion’s Taylor Reuvers and Brooke Jensen were also honored in class A. Reuvers earned 1st-team All-State recognition with Jensen making the 2nd team.

 

Mount Marty Baseball split their doubleheader with Dordt yesterday in Yankton, winning game one 8-6 before dropping game two 4-1.

Aidan Chang went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and a run scored in game one, with Garrett Siemsen taking the win on the mound. Zach Hegge was credited with the save.

The Lancers were held to 5 hits as a team in game two. Ryan Bachman drove in Tyler Vance for MMU’s lone run.

The Lancers and Defenders meet again today for a doubleheader in Sioux Center, Iowa. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 3:00 PM this afternoon.

 

Yankton Bucks Baseball returns to the diamond tonight for a pair of games against Lennox and Centerville-Viborg-Hurley.

Today was originally scheduled as a single game against Lennox, but a 2nd game was added after the cancelation of Sunday’s scheduled game against Vermillion.

First pitch of game one is set for 5:30 PM with game two to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 4:45.

 

Mount Marty Softball has had their weekend doubleheader with Dordt moved up a day due to forecasted weather.

The Lancers and Defenders will now meet today at Sertoma Park in Yankton. First pitch of game one is set for 10:30 AM with game two to follow.

 

Yankton Track and Field returns to action today for a varsity invitational hosted by Mount Marty University.

Today’s meet is the second of the season for the Bucks and Gazelles. Events are scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM.

 

Yankton Bucks Tennis opens their season today with a trilogy of matches in Rapid City.

Yankton will face Rapid City Stevens at 11:00 AM, Rapid City Central at 2:00 PM, and St. Thomas More at 4:30. All times listed are in mountain time.

 

Mount Marty University will host the “Battle of the Border” High School Basketball All-Star Game this Sunday at Laddie E. Cimpl Arena.

High School seniors from South Dakota and Nebraska will compete in the event. The girls are scheduled to play first at 2:00 PM with the boys scheduled to play at 4:00. There will also be a three-point contest between games.

Several area athletes will compete in the event. For the South Dakota girls,  Kasey Hanson and Brooke Jensen of Vermillion will compete. Representing the South Dakota boys will be Nick Hanson of Viborg-Hurley, Carter Hanson of Vermillion, Spencer Karstens of Gayville-Volin, and Carson Ness of Yankton.

Area athletes representing Nebraska in the girls’ game will be Cassie Allen, Sammie Allen, Jaida Allen, and Lexi Wiebelhaus of Crofton, as well as Maddie Steffan of Hartington-Newcastle. Competing for the Nebraska boys will be Nolan Becker of Cedar Catholic and Gibson Roberts of Laurel-Concord-Coleridge.
