September is Suicide Awareness Month.
According to the National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report, suicide rates for veterans was 1.5 times the rate of non-veteran adults.

All area veterans are encouraged to attend the monthly “Coffee with Vets” from 9am to 12pm Tuesday at the VFW Post 791 in Yankton.
Mangold says in observance of Suicide Prevention Month, Tuesday’s speaker is Jonathon Feiock from the Sioux Falls VA who is the Suicide Prevention Outreach/Education Specialist.
The “Coffee with Vets” will be held monthly on the second Tuesday of the month.
