Three individuals received serious injuries following a head on collision north of Freeman Saturday afternoon.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 1:38 PM five miles north of Freeman on Highway 81.
A 2000 Ford Pickup pulling an empty horse trailer was northbound on Highway 81 when the driver, 28-year-old Jacob Langland of Lake Preston, tried to pass a semi-truck and trailer that had slowed down to make a right turn. The pickup and trailer collided head-on with a 2016 Chevrolet Corvette which was southbound.
The Corvette had two individuals in it. An unidentified 75-year-old male driver and an unidentified 74-year-old female passenger. Both individuals received serious non-life-threatening injuries. The male driver was airlifted by helicopter to a Sioux Falls Hospital. The female was transported the Freeman hospital by ambulance.
Langland received serious non-life-threatening injuries in the accident. He was transported by ambulance to the Freeman hospital. Charges are pending against Langland.
