- The Lancer Men’s and Women’s basketball programs each play tomorrow, with the men playing on the road at Waldorf, and the women hosting Dakota State at Cimpl Arena. - The SDSU men were held to a season low 63 points in the final non-conference game of the year, resulting in a 75-63 loss to Missouri State at JQH Arena last night. The Bears ran the game, holding the lead for nearly the entire 40 minutes. Only two Jackrabbits were in double figures for the first time this season. SDSU returns home to start conference play on Monday in a contest again Kansas City. Tip is scheduled for 7 pm in Frost Arena.
- Six Jackrabbits scored in double figures and two posted career highs in South Dakota State Women’s 90-43 win over Dakota Wesleyan last night at Frost Arena. The win snaps a three-game losing streak for SDSU and moves the team to 4-7 on the season heading into Summit League play next week.
- South Dakota held Bellarmine without a field goal for eight minutes in the middle of the second half and that was the difference in a 78-64 Coyote victory last night inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center. South Dakota improved to 6-0 at home this season and finished non-conference play with a 7-4 mark. The Coyotes host Oral Roberts Monday and Kansas City next Wednesday to open the Summit League slate.
- South Dakota State football coach John Stiegelmeier announced Wednesday that eight high school standouts and a transfer have signed a National Letter of Intent, indicating they further their education and athletic pursuits with the Jackrabbits. In state signees include
Quinten Christensen, an offensive tackle out of Wessington Springs
Chase Mason, a quarterback out of Viborg-Hurley
Jace Sifore, a defensive tackle out of Howard
South Dakota football coach Bob Nielson is pleased to announce the signing of 12 student-athletes to a National Letter of Intent. In addition, Nielson announced that five other high school standouts have accepted an offer of admissions to the University of South Dakota and plan to join the Coyote football program. Student-athletes from nine different states are represented in this early signing class. Five hail from South Dakota and four from Florida, but there is also a quarterback from Texas, a linebacker from Maryland and an offensive lineman from Lawrence, Kansas, where the Coyotes battled the Kansas Jayhawks three months ago. Of the seven offensive linemen, four hail from the Sioux Falls area and a fifth is from neaby LeMars, Iowa. Gage Tennyson, a linebacker, is from Custer. The Coyotes also signed one of the top punting prospects in Tyler Ebel from DeForest, Wisconsin, to help replace record-breaker Brady Schutt.
