Yankton County Receives Millions For Stone Church Bridge Replacement

The South Dakota Transportation Commission awarded Yankton County a Bridge Improvement Grant in order to replace Stone Church Bridge in northern Yankton County.

Yankton County Commissioner Dan Klimisch was ecstatic to find out the news…

Klimisch adds that the county has some money set aside for their share of the cost to replace the bridge…

Klimisch says the overall goal is to have all four bridges over the James River repaired or replaced in the next twenty years.

The Bridge Improvement Grant (BIG) program was created in 2015 by South Dakota lawmakers. In order to be eligible for a BIG grant, a county must impose a wheel tax.
