Yankton Inmate Back In Custody

A minimum-security state prison inmate in Yankton who was placed on escape status last week is back in custody.

The South Dakota Department of Corrections says Inmate Dubusries Balkcom was arrested in Minnehaha County on Friday.

Balkcom left the Yankton Community Work Center last Sunday without authorization.

Balkcom is serving sentences for possession of a controlled substance from Minnehaha County and unauthorized ingestion from Union County. In addition, he will now be charged with leaving a non-secure facility without authorization. That is a second-degree escape charge, a Class 5 felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison.
