A Texas man is in the hospital after the vehicle he was driving went into the Missouri River near Yankton on Sunday.
Yankton County Chief Deputy Sheriff Michael Rothschadl says that on Sunday evening at 9:38 PM, deputies responded to Shore Drive off of Highway 52 located at the Marina for a vehicle that drove into the water near the G Dock.
He says the 2022 GMC Acadia that went into the river was driven by 51-year-old Charles Spence of New Braunfels Texas. The vehicle was submerged in the water with the victim trapped inside.
Responding to the scene were Game Fish and Parks, Yankton County EMS, Yankton Fire, and the Yankton County office of Emergency Management.
Yankton Search and Rescue crews were able to get Spence out of the vehicle so he could be transported to the hospital in Yankton. The victim was later transported to a hospital in Omaha Nebraska with unknown injuries.
