Disc Takes Out Railroad Crossing Arm In Yankton

Nobody was injured after a pickup pulling a disc plow hit the railroad crossing at 8th and Broadway Wednesday morning.

Yankton Police Department Commander Monty Rothenberger says that on Wednesday morning at 10:30 a northbound Ram Pickup truck was pulling a disc plow. The disc plow collided with the railroad arm as it was crossing the tracks, knocking over the crossing arm. The driver of the pickup was not injured.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad removed the train signal from the roadway.

Rothenburger says residents should use caution and expect increased delays if a train is coming through town.

Rothenburger declined to identify the driver of the pickup.
