The Yankton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Gayville-Volin School in Gayville Wednesday morning for three separate ambulance calls.
Yankton County Chief Deputy Sheriff Michael Rothschadl says that two juvenile females were having seizures concerning a prescription pill they had taken earlier in the day and one juvenile female had a mental illness issue.
Rothschadl adds that the Highway Patrol was called and three troopers with their K-9 Units responded and searched the school and no drugs or paraphernalia were located. The juveniles were taken to local hospitals, examined, and released.
Gayville-Volin School Superintendent Jason Selchert asked for the Sheriff’s assistance following the incidents. He says is so important that we all encourage students to indicate to an adult if they hear of incidents of wrongdoing or that something with a situation is just not right.
Rothschadl says the exact reason why the prescription pills caused the seizures continues to remain under investigation.
