- Yankton Gazelles Golf teed off at the Bob Scholten Invitational in Brookings yesterday and finished in the middle of the pack in 7th place, posting a 350 (+62) combined score, edging out the host Bobcats by two strokes. Aberdeen Central took the team title carding a 322 (+34). The Gazelles top golfer on the day was Tatum Hohenthaner, tallying an 84 (+12). Also for Yankton, Jillian Eidsness scored an 86 (+14), Sabrina Krajewski (Kraskie) tallied a 89 (+17), and Ellia Homstad scored a 91 (+19). Lauren Sutcliffe of O’Gorman took the individual top honors, carding a 72 (Even). The Gazelles now prepare for the ESD Conference Championship Meet on Tuesday at Hillsview Golf Course in Pierre. Tee-off set for 10am.

- South Dakota head men’s basketball coach Eric Peterson has announced the signing of Jeremiah Coleman to the 2022-23 team. Coleman is a 6-0 point guard from Parker, Colorado, and will join the Coyotes after graduating from Colorado Prep this spring.
- South Dakota track and field has qualified 23 entries to the NCAA West Preliminary held in Fayetteville, Arkansas, starting next Wednesday. A total of 20 individuals and one relay account for the 23 entries. Of those taking the stage at the first round of the national meet, nine are making first-time appearances. There are 13 athletes making a return trip from a year ago.
- In a game featuring a combined eight home runs, Oral Roberts delivered the decisive blow with a two-run shot in the top of the seventh inning that lifted the Golden Eagles to a 12-11 victory over South Dakota State yesterday afternoon in the opening game of a Summit League baseball series at Erv Huether Field. With the win, ORU improved to 34-14 overall and 16-6 in league play. The Jackrabbits, who had their four-game winning streak snapped, dropped to 21-20 overall and 12-8 in The Summit League. The two squads are slated to play the middle game of their three-game series at 1 pm this afternoon.
- Due to inclement weather in the Orlando area, the NCAA has altered the schedule of today’s games to ensure the safety of the players, fans and staff. The South Dakota State softball team will now face off against the Michigan Wolverines at 11 am at the UCF Softball Complex.
- The Yankton Tappers continued their hot start to the amateur baseball season last night in Crofton, crushing their way to a 17-7 victory. The Tappers were led offensively by Tommy Alitz, who went 4 for 5 at the plate and drove in five runs. On the mound, Cooper Davis secured the victory, pitching five scoreless innings and tallying seven strikeouts. The Tappers, now 2-0 to begin South Central League play, travel to Wynot Sunday for a 6pm first pitch.
