- Day one of the Class AA Girls State Golf Tournament concluded yesterday, and Yankton currently sits 7th with a (+55) team score. Individually, Yankton’s Jillian Eidsness is currently tied for 11th after shooting an 80 (+8), Ellia Homstad is tied in 22nd with a 85 (+13) score, Sabrina Krajewski is currently tied for 35th and shot an 89 (+17), Tatum Hohenthaner shot a 90 (+18), Gracie Brockberg carded a 89 (+17), and Elsie Larson tallied a 97 (+25) score. The lead team of the day was Mitchell with a team (+38) score. The individual leader in Class AA is Mitchell’s Allison Meyerink with a 71 (-1) score. The final day of the tournament commences today at 830am.
- South Central League Baseball action continues tonight, as 1-2 Wynot seeks to climb the standings as they travel to 2-3 Freeman tonight. The (3-1) Yankton Tappers next matchup is Thursday, hosting (2-2) Tabor at 730pm at Riverside Field.
- Women’s basketball coach Kayla Karius has announced that Sophie Haydon will transfer from George Washington to South Dakota. She joins the Coyotes this season with three years of eligibility remaining. A 6-foot-2 forward from Shorewood, Minnesota, Haydon was a five-year varsity letterwinner at Minnetonka High School. She was a three-time team captain, earned multiple all-conference awards and led the Skippers to consecutive section finals appearances.
