  • The Yankton Fury Fire (18U) Softball team split a double-header 8-4 and 8-1 with the Hartford Sparx last night at Sertoma Park. The games bring the Fire’s record to 12-14. Yankton now prepares to host TSC Blaze tomorrow night at Sertoma Park, first pitch scheduled for 630pm. Yankton’s other 18U team, Yankton Fury Red (18-7-1), hosts Mankato (MN) Friday at 12pm at Sertoma Park.
  • Yankton Tappers Baseball (5-2) trail Lesterville (7-0) by two games in the South-Central League Standings, and has a chance to cut that deficit in half tomorrow night, when they travel to the Broncs. First pitch scheduled for 730pm. Yankton’s most recent matchup was against Lesterville at home on Sunday, and they dropped that contest by a 6-3 score.
  • Yankton Legion Baseball is back at Riverside Field tomorrow, hosting defending Class A State Champion Renner Post 307 in double-header action. You can catch the action live on KYNT and KYNTV with the voice of Yankton Baseball, Bryce Ladwig. Pregame coverage begins at 430pm, first pitch 5pm. Yankton is currently in 5th place in the Class A power standings, Renner is in 6th.
  • South Dakota State University had six teams earn a perfect NCAA Academic Progress Rate during the 2020-21 academic year as released by the NCAA national office. Men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf, volleyball and women’s basketball each achieved a perfect score of 1,000. The NCAA uses Academic Progress Rates to track academic progress and eligibility of scholarship student-athletes using a simple and consistent formula. Each term, scholarship student-athletes can earn one point for remaining eligible and one point for staying in school or graduating.
