Yankton Bucks senior guard Rugby Ryken earned another honor recently as he was named to the Class AA All-State boys’ basketball first team following a state title campaign for the Bucks.
Ryken averaged 12 points, 7.5 assists and 5.8 rebounds per game in his senior season, and will continue his career as a dual-sport athlete at Mount Marty, as a member of the Lancers’ football and basketball programs. Ryken finishes his high school career 12th in career scoring at YHS (823) and first in career assists (356). He also set the Bucks’ single-game assist record with 16 earlier this year.
Ryken was joined on the Class-AA first team by class MVP JT Rock (SF Lincoln), Taylen Ashley (SF Jefferson), Kaden Year (SF Jefferson), Lincoln Kienholz (Pierre), and Spencer Barr (Aberdeen Central).
The Mount Marty Lancer baseball game against Dakota State that was on the schedule for Wednesday has been canceled.
The Lancers, who are yet to play a home game this season, will return to the diamond on Saturday for a road double header against Morningside. MMU’s home opener is now set to be on April 7th against Midland.
The Yankton Bucks tennis squad are (3-1) on the year as they welcome O’Gorman, Bishop Heelan, and Vermillion to the NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Complex for a quadrangular this morning. First serve is set for 11:00 AM..
Then Mount Marty men’s tennis team fell to Augustana 6-1 in a duel yesterday afternoon and are now (1-5) on the season.
The Lancer duo of Heinrich Lindeque and Jeronimo Wagner secured the lone point for MMU on the day, as they secured a 7-6 match victory in doubles play.
Next up for Lancer tennis is a meeting with Midland in Fremont, NE on Friday. First serve is set for 3:00 PM. Both the men’s and women’s teams will be in action.
The Yankton Bucks baseball team have had the location changed for their double header against Huron on Sunday, as the Bucks will now host the Tigers at Riverside Park. Yankton will now play three home games over two days, as they open their season with a single game against Brandon Valley on Saturday.
The South Dakota Coyotes women’s basketball team have added graduate transfer Tori DePerry from NCAA Division II Saginaw Valley State to their roster for next season.
DePerry is a 5’11” forward from Shawano, Wisconsin who earned all-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first team honors last season as she averaged 17 points and 8 rebounds per game. DePerry was a dean’s list student at SVSU, and plans to obtain a masters degree in interdisciplinary studies while at USD.
