Yankton Gazelles softball has their second game of the season scheduled for this afternoon as they host the Brandon Valley Lynx. First pitch from the Northwest Turf Field at Sertoma Park is set for 2:00 PM.
The Yankton Bucks tennis team are set to host a triangular this morning, as Millbank and Vermillion will travel to Yankton for the meet. First serve from the NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center is set for 11:00 AM.
The Mount Marty Lancers men’s track and field team jumped up more than 50 spots in the latest USA Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association ratings for NAIA, as they now sit in 18th, 3rd highest in the GPAC. Both the men’s and women’s teams will next compete in the University of South Dakota Early Bird on Friday and Saturday.
The (25-8) Mount Marty Lancers baseball team will begin their first home series of the season tomorrow afternoon as they host Midland for a 4-game series. First pitch of tomorrow’s double header will be 1:00 PM, with the games taking place at Riverside Field in Yankton.
The (8-13) Mount Marty softball team return to action on Saturday as they’ll travel to Hastings, Nebraska for a double header with Hastings College.
A pair of South Dakota Coyote basketball players were honored recently, as Tasos Kamateros (Ka-ma-tear-os) and Grace Larkins were named academic all-summit league.
Kamateros averaged career-bests in points, rebounds, three-point percentage, and minutes played last season, while also maintaining a 3.71 GPA in business administration. Kamateros also earned an all-summit honorable mention for the second straight year following his on court performance last season. Kamateros, a native of Athens, Greece, is currently in the transfer portal and has another year of eligibility remaining.
As for Larkins, she averaged 17.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.0 steals per game for USD, while maintaining a GPA of 3.83. Larkins was also named All-summit first team, and to the conference all-defensive team last season as she was an on-court leader for the Coyotes.
