The Yankton Bucks baseball team are now 4 and 1 on the season as they split last night’s double header with the Warriors of Sioux Falls Washington.
The Bucks fell to Washington in game one 10-5. Drew Ryken started the game on the mound, allowing three earned runs and striking out 6 batters in 6 innings of work. Drew also led the team at the plate, going 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.
The Bucks took a 6-5 victory in game two as Mark Kathol got the win on the mound in relief. Kathol struck out 6 and allowed a single hit over 3 innings of work. At the plate, Rugby Ryken, Lucas Kampshoff, Jace McCorkell, and Josh Sheldon all tallied an RBI for Yankton.
Next up for the Bucks is a home double header with Mitchell on Sunday, April 16th.
The Yankton track and field team will compete this afternoon as they host a quadrangular against Aberdeen Central, Brandon Valley, and Mitchell at Yankton High School.
Today’s meet will be the second of the year for Yankton, almost three weeks after their season opener on the 24th of March. Events are set to begin at 3:30 PM.
Mount Marty Lancers Softball have won back-to-back games as they look to add to the win column this afternoon as they host a double header against Jamestown University.
The Lancers look to improve their conference standing as they currently sit 8th in the GPAC rankings, while the Jimmies sit in 12th, and are looking for their first GPAC win this season. First pitch from Yankton is set for 3:00 PM.
Another member of the South Dakota Coyotes men’s basketball squad has departed the team, as Keaton Kutcher (Koo-Ch-er) announced via Twitter that he would be transferring to Illinois to join the program as a walk-on.
Kutcher joins fellow former Coyotes AJ Plitzuweit (Plit-zoo-white) (transfer portal), Kruz Perrott-Hunt (Pair-row Hunt) (professional) and Tasos Kamateros (Tah-sos Kah-ma-tear-os) (transfer portal) in leaving the program.
