The Yankton Gazelles softball team secured a tough win last night, as they outlasted Sioux Falls Washington for a 7 to 6 victory.
Grace Behrns did it all for the Gazelles, getting the win on the mound as she pitched a complete game and struck out four batters, as well as going 2 for 3 with 4 RBIs at the plate, and scoring a run herself.
Yankton improves to 10 and 4 with the win, and they will be on the road this evening as they travel to Mitchell to play the Kernels at 5:30 PM.
Yankton Bucks baseball hosts Sioux Falls O’Gorman for a double header this evening at Riverside Park. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 4:30 with first pitch set for 5:00 PM. Bryce Ladwig and Brayden Butler will be on the call.
Yankton Bucks tennis are on the road as they travel to Mitchell for the ESD conference tournament. Yankton will be one of nine schools competing in the event, which begins (began if after 8:00) at 8:00 AM.

Another Yankton high school athlete has decided to further their academic and athletic career at the collegiate level as Hope Lesher announced yesterday that she would be attending Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota as a hurdler.
Lesher recently took home a 4th place finish, out of 25 runners, in the 300 meter hurdles during last week’s O’Gorman invite, and she credits her hurdling coach Brandon Colpits for what he’s done to help her grow throughout her career. Lesher also said that the exercise physiology program at Gustavus Adolphus helped with her decision, as she’s considering a future in chiropractic care.
Mount Marty baseball announced yesterday that sophomore reliever Noah McCandless (Mick-cand-less) had tied the school record for saves in a single season as he secured his 10th save during Friday’s victory over the Doane Tigers.
The Lancers were eventually eliminated from the GPAC tournament by Doane on Saturday, as McCandless pitched in the final game, going 5 and 1/3rd innings, allowing only 2 runs and striking out 4 batters in the 14 to 11 loss. The Lancers ended the year with a 38 and 15 record, the most wins in a single season in program history.
The GPAC baseball championship will take place this afternoon as Doane hosts Concordia in the title game at 3:00 PM.
