The Yankton Gazelles softball team made the Class AA state tournament as the 8th overall seed, and they will open tournament action on Thursday as they face #1 Sioux Falls Lincoln.
The Gazelles enter the tournament with a 12 and 7 overall record, one of those losses coming to Sioux Falls Lincoln on May 16th, as the Gazelles fell 5 to 4 despite a late inning rally.
All opening round games for Class AA, as well as classes A and B will be held in Aberdeen on June 1st.

The Yankton Gazelles golf team will wrap up their regular season today, as they take part in the Brandon Valley Invitational at 10:00 AM. The invitational will be held at the Brandon Golf Course.
The Yankton Post 12 legion baseball season begins tomorrow afternoon, as they host Aberdeen in a double header at Riverside Field, beginning at 3:00 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 2:30. Bryce Ladwig and Brayden Butler will be on the call.
The Bon Homme Cavaliers advanced to the class B baseball state semi-finals yesterday, as they secured a 10 to 2 victory over Rapid City Christian.
The Cavaliers remained undefeated on the season with the win, as they’ll take on Dell Rapids at 2:35 this afternoon. The winner will face either Tea Area or Dakota Valley at 5:05 this evening for the state title.
