U.S. Senator John Thune was in Yankton Tuesday speaking on the dangers of the internet, social media, and artificial intelligence. Thune says he has offered an amendment to the Kids Online Safety Act to protect citizens from algorithms deciding what social media content they see without their knowledge. Thune says an even greater risk may be the rapid spread of Artificial Intelligence.
Thune says one of the dangers of social media include the access by foreign governments to U-S data and information.
He says the danger extends beyond personal privacy to threats to national security. Thune visited with local officials for an hour before speaking at Tuesday’s Topics at 12 hosted by Yankton Thrive.
