Yankton Gazelles volleyball standout Macy Drotzmann made her future plans official yesterday, as she signed with Mount Marty University to continue her athletic and academic careers as a Lancer.
Drotzmann, a senior outside hitter for the Gazelles, said that she had visited multiple schools, but nothing felt right until she took a visit to Mount Marty.
Drotzmann’s current coach at YHS, Tayler Stacey, praised her work ethic on and off the floor, and the positive attitude that Drotzmann brings to any team she’s on.
Drotzmann will join the Lancer program following her graduation from YHS. She, along with the rest of the Gazelles volleyball squad, will be in action tonight, as they are on the road against Brandon Valley. First serve at 7:00 PM.
Yankton Bucks football have their senior night game tomorrow night, as they host Sioux Falls Roosevelt at Crane-Youngworth Field.
Kickoff between the Bucks and the Roughriders is scheduled for 7:00 PM, with pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV beginning at 6:00. Bryce Ladwig and Josh Boelter will be on the call.
Yankton Gazelles tennis open the 2023 class AA state tournament today in Sioux Falls. Today’s action begins at 8:00 AM, with matches hosted at Tomar Park, McKennan Park, and Lincoln High School throughout the day.
Mount Marty men’s and women’s soccer were swept in a double header last night by Dordt, as the women fell 6 to 1 while the men were defeated 2 to 0.
Both Lancer teams are at home for their next games, as they host Hastings for a double header on Sunday.
Yankton competitive cheer and dance will compete this evening in an Invitational in Mitchell. Events will be held at the Corn Palace beginning at 5:00 PM.
Mount Marty University announced yesterday that Belle Heine would be the new head coach for the Lancer dance program.
Heine is a graduate of the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and has been involved in dance since the age of 3. Heine danced competitively in high school and performed with the Academy of Dance.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team hit the road tomorrow night for a Friday night Big Ten clash with Illinois. The Huskers are 2 and 3 following last week’s loss to #2 Michigan, as they look to return to a .500 record on the season.
