LOCAL SPORTS 11-3-23

The Yankton Bucks host the Tea Area Titans tonight at Crane-Youngworth Field, in the semifinal round of the Class 11-AA Football Playoffs.

            The 9 and 1 Bucks ride a six game win streak into the semifinals, including a 37 to 26 win over the Titans in Tea in the regular season. Tea, 7 and 3 on the year, are 4 and 1 since that loss to Yankton, with their lone loss coming to Pierre.

            Kickoff between the Bucks and Titans is scheduled for 7:00 PM this evening, pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 6:00. Bryce Ladwig and Josh Boelter will be on the call.

            Yankton Gazelles Volleyball ended their regular season last night, as they fell to Watertown 3-sets to 1.

            The Gazelles, who are 12 and 14 following the loss, are currently slated for a postseason spot depending on other results in Class AA. SoDak 16 seeding and matchups will be finalized at the conclusion of the regular season for all Class AA teams.

            Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Basketball are set to take over the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls tomorrow night, as they take on Valley City State University in a double header.

            Both Lancer teams are coming off of historic performances last time out, as they swept Union College in their double header on Monday. The women would win 100 to 9, their largest margin of victory in program history, with the men defeating Union 122 to 63.

            The women will play first tomorrow night as tip off is set for 5:00 PM, with the men to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV will begin at 4:30. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.

            Mount Marty Cross Country will compete in the GPAC Conference meet tomorrow, with this year’s event held in North Sioux City. The women’s race will begin first at 10:45 AM, with the men running at 11:30.

            The Avon Pirates football team are one win away from the DakotaDome, as they are scheduled to host De Smet in this evening’s Class 9-B Semifinals. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.

            The Crofton Warriors football team are in the quarterfinals of the Class D1 Nebraska State Playoffs. The Warriors will be on the road this evening for their matchup with Elkhorn Valley.

            Kickoff from Elkhorn Valley is set for 6:00 PM. Pregame coverage will begin at 5:30 on Riverfront Sports 94.3 as well as via the Crofton live link on this station’s website.

The Wynot Blue Devils are in the quarterfinals of the Class D2 Nebraska Football State Playoffs, and they are scheduled to square off with Humphrey St. Francis this afternoon. Kickoff from Wynot is set for 5:00 PM.

The Crofton Warriors volleyball team were eliminated from the Nebraska State Class C2 Volleyball Tournament last night, as they were defeated in 3-sets by Clarkson-Leigh.

            The Warriors end the season with a 21 and 9 overall record, ending in their first state tournament appearance since 2016.

            The Wynot Blue Devils volleyball squad advanced to the  Nebraska State Class D2 Volleyball Tournament semifinals yesterday, as they swept Wallace in 3-sets.

            The 5th seeded Blue Devils will take on #1 seed Cambridge in the semifinals at 9:00 AM this morning, with the winner advancing to the state title match.
