Mount Marty Men’s Basketball were defeated by the South Dakota Coyotes last night, 85 to 53.

            Vermillion native Jake Jensen led the Lancers in rebounds, 7, assists, 3, and steals, 3, in his return home. Tash Lunday was the leading scorer for MMU, as he posted 18 points, the most of any player for both teams.

            The Lancers record was unaffected by the loss as it was considered an exhibition game for the NAIA program against the NCAA Division One USD. The Lancers will have another exhibition game tomorrow night, as they will face North Dakota State in Fargo.

            Mount Marty Women’s Basketball will be on the road tomorrow night, as they take on Dakota State in Madison, SD.

            The Lancers are coming off of their first loss of the season on Saturday, as they look to bounce back against the 1 and 2 Trojans.

            Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM tomorrow night, pregame coverage on KYNT begins at 6:30. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.

            University of South Dakota Edge Rusher Brendan Webb has been named Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week, following his record setting four-sack performance in the Coyotes 14 to 7 win over Southern Illinois.

            The four sacks set a new single game record for the Coyotes, as Webb notched his first MVFC Player of the Week honor.

            Both South Dakota State and South Dakota are once again ranked inside the top-10 in the latest FCS Stats Perform Poll.

            The Jackrabbits remain #1 in the polls, as they have all season, while the Coyotes rebounded to #6 this week following their win over Southern Illinois. The Coyotes had fallen to #9 in the previous poll after a loss to SDSU.

            The Jackrabbits will be on the road next weekend for their game against Youngstown State, while the Coyotes return home for their third straight top-10 opponent, as they host #10 North Dakota.

            South Dakota Coyotes Men’s Basketball opened their 2023 season with an 85 to 53 win over Mount Marty last night.

            The Coyotes had four players in double figures, led by Bostyn (Boston) Holt and Paul Bruns who each had 16. 2023 Gatorade Player of the Year for South Dakota Isaac Bruns made his debut for USD, posting 12 points in the win.

            The Coyotes will next play in the Sanford Pentagon on Friday, as they take on the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

            South Dakota Coyotes Women’s Basketball are 1 and 0 to begin 2023, as they defeated Northern State 85 to 57.

            USD were led by Junior Kendall Holmes, who tallied 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals in her Coyote debut, as she transferred to USD from DePaul earlier this year.

            The Coyotes are on the road for their next game, as they face #22 Creighton on Friday in Omaha, Nebraska.

            South Dakota State Men’s Basketball began the 2023 season with a loss last night, as they fell to Akron 81 to 75.

            Zeke Mayo led the Jackrabbits with 28 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals. SDSU had three other players score in double figures in the loss.

            SDSU will be at home for their next game on Wednesday, as they host Dakota Wesleyan inside Frost Arena.

            South Dakota State Women’s Basketball are 1 and 0 to start 2023, as they defeated Arkansas State last night, 55 to 42.

            Jackrabbits Sophomore Brooklyn Meyer secured a double-double in the win, as she posted 15 points and 14 rebounds to open her 2023 campaign. Meyer also recorded 4 blocks in the game.

            SDSU has a week off before they make the trip to Madison, Wisconsin for their next game, as they take on the Wisconsin Badgers next Tuesday, November 14th.

            Dakota Wesleyan head football coach Ross Cimpl will be this week’s featured guest speaker at tomorrow’s meeting of the Yankton Quarterback Club. The meeting will be held at the River Rock Event Center on Broadway at 12:00 PM noon.
