Five Mount Marty Football Standouts were recognized by the GPAC yesterday as All-Conference selections, led by Wide Receiver Jonah Miyazawa and Tight End Rex Ryken, who were selected as First Team All-Conference, the first two in school history to earn the honor.

Lancer Running Back Isaiah Thompson made the Second Team, with Quarterback Ken Gay and Defensive Lineman Cameron Middleton earning honorable mentions. Miyazawa was also named as an honorable mention as a punt return, along with his First Team selection.

MMU ended 2023 with a 3 and 8 overall record.

Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s basketball both opened GPAC play with a loss last night, as they were swept in their double header against Dordt.

The women were defeated by Dordt, 80 to 52. Freshman Jadyn Jensen led the team in scoring, and rebounding, as she tallied 12 points and 6 rebounds. Kaela (Kayla) Martinez was second in scoring with 11.

The men fell to Dordt 92 to 74. Jake Jensen recorded a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double for the Lancers. Jared Lopez nearly joined Jensen with a double double, as he added 16 points and 8 boards of his own.

Both Lancer teams will be in Sioux City, Iowa for their next game on Saturday, as they have a road double header against Morningside, beginning at 2:00 PM.
