Mount Marty Women’s Basketball announced yesterday that Yankton senior Claire Tereshinski has committed to the program.
Tereshinski is entering her senior season for Yankton High School. She led the Gazelles in scoring, assists, and steals, and was an All-ESD Honorable Mention during her junior year.
Tereshinski and the Gazelles begin their 2023 season on Friday when they host Sioux Falls Lincoln inside the Summit Activities Center.
Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Basketball have a home double header this evening, as the women host the College of Saint Mary, while the men play Dakota State.
The women’s game will take place first at 6:00 PM with the men to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 5:30. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.
Mount Marty Volleyball had eight student-athletes honored yesterday as NAIA scholar athletes.
Seniors Ally Whitmire, Alyssa Keiser, Andrea Williams, Ivy Mines, Katelyn Chytka and Skylar Sullivan, as well as juniors Kassidy Meyer and Kendra Horsley were all recognized by the NAIA.
To be nominated as a scholar athlete, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.
Yankton Gymnastics finished 2nd in their opening meet of the 2023 season last night, scoring 129.05 as a team.
Yankton had 4 gymnasts in the top-10 of the all-around competition, led by senior Ava Koller (Collar) who finished 4th overall with a score of 34.35, and 2nd in her floor routine. Joining Koller in the top-10 were freshman Marissa Byrkeland, and 8th graders Ellie Drotzmann and Avery Portillo.
Next up for Yankton Gymnastics is a Quad in Mitchell on December 7th.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Wrestling begin their 2023 season tomorrow night, as they compete in Watertown. Matches for the Triangular begin at 5:00 PM Thursday evening.
The South Dakota Coyotes Football program had four athletes make this season’s Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer team, as Charles Pierre Jr., Mosai Newsom, Joe Cotton and Parker Fryar were each selected by the MVFC.
The selection of the four Coyotes marks the 3rd time in the last six seasons that four or more USD players were named to the All-Newcomer team.
USD will compete in the 2nd round of the FCS Playoffs on Saturday, as they host Sacramento State inside the DakotaDome.
The Yankton Quarterback Club will host their weekly meeting at noon today at the River Rock Event Center in Yankton.

South Dakota Men’s Basketball defeated Waldorf last night 93 to 71, improving to 5 and 3 on the year.
The Coyotes were led by Paul and Isaac Bruns, as the brothers scored a combined 35 points, as Paul had 18 while Isaac had 17. Bostyn Holt finished just shy of a double double for USD, with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
USD will be on the road for their next game, as they take on Western Illinois on December 3rd.
South Dakota Women’s Basketball will be at home this evening, as they host Northern Iowa inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
South Dakota State Women’s Basketball moved to 4 and 2 last night, as they defeated Washburn 95 to 58.
Brooklyn Meyer led the Jackrabbits in scoring with 18 points on the night, while Tori Nelson helped secure the win with 14 points and 8 rebounds.
SDSU have a week off before their next game, as they host Washington State on Tuesday, December 5th.
