Colleen Bailey Named City Employee of the Year

The City of Yankton held their employee Christmas party on Friday night and also honored a number of employees and retirees.

Along with a catered meal, employees were treated to some games, prize drawings and the unveiling of the City Employee of the Year Award.

With Colleen Bailey, from the HR Department, being one of the event planners, it took some trickery from the other party committee members to keep it from her that she was the 2023 Employee of the Year.

Bailey was under the assumption it was another city employee that was receiving the award and ironically went to great detail to make sure the night was special for that person.

City Manager Amy Leon was able to make the official announcement and Bailey said it was the surprise of a lifetime.

City Employees that were recognized for at least 25 years of service or more included Roger Schroeder, 40 years, Dan Frick and Dave Kuehler, 35 years, Chris Bornitz, 30 years and with 25 years were Rob Buechler, Sara O’Farrell and Jason Foote.
