The Yankton Volunteer Fire Department has received a grant from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
Yankton Deputy Fire Chief, Larry Nickles, says that the grant will help pay for rescue pants and jackets for the department.
Nickles says that the department received almost $2,000.
Including Yankton, the Department of Public Safety awarded a total of $5 million in grant money to nearly 280 volunteer fire departments across the state.
