Mount Marty Men’s Basketball were defeated by Concordia University last night in GPAC play, 82 to 54. Tash Lunday and Cole Bowen both cracked double digits in scoring for the Lancers, as Lunday led the team with 13 points, followed by 11 from Bowen. Jared Lopez led the team in rebounds with 7, while Rugby Ryken tallied the most assists with 3. The Lancers will be on the road in Mitchell, SD on Saturday, as they take on Dakota Wesleyan in a men’s/women’s double header.
Mount Marty Women’s Basketball fell to 3 and 7 last night, following a 77 to 57 loss to Concordia University. Kaela Martinez paced the Lancers with a game high 24 points on the night. Sidney Thue added 14 points of her own, along with a team high 7 rebounds. The Lancer women will play the first half of the men’s/women’s double header against Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Basketball have a home double header tomorrow night, as they take on Harrisburg inside the Summit Activities Center. The Gazelles enter the contest 2 and 0 on the year, their first 2 and 0 start since the 2014/15 season. The new look Bucks will play their first game of the season tomorrow night coming off last year’s state championship. The Bucks graduated 8 seniors from last year’s squad. The Gazelles will play first at 6:00 PM with the Bucks to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV will begin at 5:30. Bryce Ladwig will be on the call.
Mount Marty Track and Field are set to open the Concordia Bulldog Early Bird Meet on Friday, December 8th. Tomorrow’s events will be day one of the two-day meet held in Seward, Nebraska.
Yankton Wrestling will return to the mats tonight, as the team travels to North Sioux City to take on Vermillion and Dakota Valley in a triangular. Matches will be held at Dakota Valley High School and are scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM.
Yankton Gymnastics have a quadrangular scheduled for this evening, as they take on Mitchell, Pierre, and O’Gorman. Events will be held at the Mitchell MEGA Gymnastics Center beginning at 5:30 PM.
The South Dakota Coyotes football team will compete in their first FCS Playoff Quarterfinals in program history on Saturday, as they host the North Dakota State Bison inside the DakotaDome. USD has announced that the game is a sellout for the Coyotes, with kickoff from Vermillion scheduled for 1:30 PM. The winner of the quarterfinal matchup will face either Furman or Montana in the semifinal round.
The South Dakota State Jackrabbits football team are three wins away from repeating as FCS National Champions under first year head coach Jimmy Rogers, and they will take on Villanova on Saturday in the FCS Playoff Quarterfinals. Kickoff from Brookings is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Saturday. The winner will face either Idaho or UAlbany in the semifinals.
