Yankton Bucks Basketball fell to Harrisburg in their season opener on Friday, with a final score of 55 to 40.
Landon Potts led the charge on offense, scoring 24 points and hitting six 3-pointers for the Bucks. Tucker Gilmore and Matthew Sheldon each added 7 points as well.
Yankton will be at home tomorrow night for their next game, as they host Sioux Falls Washington at 7:00 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV will begin at 6:30. Bryce Ladwig will be on the call.
Yankton Gazelles Basketball suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of Harrisburg on Friday, as the Tigers took a 53 to 30 win.
Claire Tershinski scored a team high 9 points for the Gazelles. Camryn Koletzky and Macy Drotzmann added 6 points apiece. Koletzky also had 4 rebounds, while Drotzmann recorded a pair of steals.
The Gazelles will be on the road tomorrow night as they take on Sioux Falls Washington. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
Mount Marty Men’s Basketball were defeated by GPAC foe Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday, 90 to 66.
Cole Bowen and Rugby Ryken tied for the team high in points with 10 each in the loss. Ryken also led the Lancers in assists with 7, and rebounds with 6.
The Lancers, now 2 and 8 on the year, have over a full week off before their matchup with the University of Sioux Falls on December 19th.
Mount Marty Women’s Basketball are now 3 and 8 on the season, following their 76 to 50 loss to Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday.
Jadyn Jensen led the Lancers in scoring and rebounding in the game, as she recorded 17 points and 8 boards. Hayley Meyer was 2nd in scoring for MMU with 12 points.
The Lancers will be on the road on Wednesday, as they travel to Vermillion to take on the South Dakota Coyotes. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT begins at 6:30. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.
Mount Marty Men’s Track and Field claimed five event victories in the Concordia Early Bird meet over the weekend, in their 2nd meet of the season.
Donovan Breckenridge played in hand in two of the victories, winning the 200 meter dash outright, while also being part of the MMU 1600 relay team that took the top spot, alongside Nathaniel Kropuenske, Mason Schleis and Zavio Prato. Also earning event wins were Jacob Kueny in the 800, Marcus Jnofinn in the 60 meter, and Luke Rettedal in the shot put.
The Lancers will host their next meet, as they compete in the Mount Marty Opener on Saturday.
Mount Marty Women’s Track and Field claimed top-5 finishes in multiple events during the Concordia Early Bird Meet over the weekend, led by a 2nd place finish in the 1600 meter relay.
The Lancers 2nd place relay team was composed of Callie Davis, Tianna Bumbaca-Kuehl, Josey Wahlstrom and Alexis Even. Even would finish 3rd in the 200 and 40th in the 60 as well. Davis would finish 4th in the 200 alongside Even, and Bumbaca-Kuehl took 3rd in the 600.
The Lancers will host their next meet, as they compete in the Mount Marty Opener on Saturday.
Yankton Gymnastics will be in Huron tomorrow night, as they compete in a triangular against Huron and Madison. Events will be held at the Huron Tiger Activity Center, beginning at 5:30 PM.
The South Dakota Coyotes had their football season come to an end on Saturday, as they were knocked out of the FCS Playoff Quarterfinals by North Dakota State, 45 to 17.
The loss concludes a historic season for the Coyotes, which saw them make their first FCS Quarterfinal in program history, and make one of the most drastic improvements in the country, as they finish the year 10 and 3, following their 3 and 8 record the year prior.
With the win, NDSU moved on to face Montana in next weekend’s FCS Semifinals.
The South Dakota State Jackrabbits are one win away from returning to the FCS National Title Game, as they advanced to the Semifinals with a 23 to 12 win over Villanova on Saturday.
The Jackrabbit offense ran for 242 yards as a team, led by running back Isaiah Davis, who had 192 yards and a touchdown.
SDSU will face off with UAlbany next weekend in the FCS Semifinals.
South Dakota Men’s Basketball defeated CSU Bakersfield on Saturday 78 to 73, to improve to 7 and 3 on the year.
Lahat Thioune (La-hot Toon) secured a 23 point, 10 rebound double-double in the win, leading the Coyotes in both stat categories. Bostyn Holt flirted with a double-double of his own, as he recorded 15 points and 7 assists.
USD are off until next Saturday, when they take on UC Irvine in Irvine, California.
South Dakota Women’s Basketball picked up their 4th straight win on Saturday, as they defeated Dickinson State 108 to 46.
The Coyotes had four players in double figures, led by an 18-point showing from Natalie Mazurek. Carley Duffney, Grace Larkins, and Morgan Hansen were the other three to score double digits.
USD will be at home for their next game, as they host Mount Marty on Wednesday night.
South Dakota State Men’s Basketball defeated Wichita State over the weekend, as they took a 79 to 69 road victory.
Zeke Mayo and Kalen Garry led the offense for the Jackrabbits, as they combined for 47 points in the win. Mayo also recorded a team high 7 assists, while Garry was joint highest in rebounds with 6.
SDSU returns home on Thursday, as they host Mayville State inside Frost Arena.
South Dakota State Women’s Basketball took a 78 to 59 win over Northern Iowa on Saturday to improve to 5 and 3 on the year.
Paige Meyer led the team in scoring with 23 points, while Brooklyn Meyer recorded 11 points and 10 rebounds to secure a double-double.
SDSU will be back at Frost Arena tomorrow night, as they host Dordt at 7:00 PM.
