The South Dakota Department of Transportation has announced that they will be reopening Highway 46 near Irene to through traffic on Friday, a road that has been closed since April.
Greg Rothschadl, with the DOT, says that they did a total reconstruction of the road.
Rothschadl says that part of the construction on Highway 46 is done, but they will resume work in 2024.
Rothschadl says the speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph.
Rothschadl says that between the two projects, construction on Highway 46 will cost $28.4 million.
