Yankton Bucks Kicker Josue Trujillo-Melgoza has been selected as the “Adam Vinatieri Kicker of the Year” by the South Dakota Football Coaches Association.
Trujillo was selected as All-State for Class 11AA and all-Eastern South Dakota Conference as a kicker in 2023. He connected on 90% of his field goal attempts, with his longest being from 40 yards. Trujillo was also nearly automatic on extra points, connecting on 48 of 51 PAT attempts.
Outside of his kicking duties, Trujillo was also named All-State and All-Conference as a punter for the 2023 season. He averaged 34.4 yards per punt with a long of 56, and had 9 of his punts downed inside the opponent’s 20.
