Yankton Bucks Basketball fell to Sturgis in their regular season finale on Saturday, as the Scoopers took a 65 to 58 victory.

With the loss, Yankton finishes the regular season with a 3 and 17 overall record, and are the 16th seed in this year’s SoDak 16.

The Bucks will travel to Mitchell on Saturday to take on the Kernels, with a spot in the state tournament on the line.

Yankton Gazelles Basketball ended their regular season with an emphatic victory, defeating Sturgis 50 to 30.

Yankton was led by a 15-point performance from senior Claire Tereshinski. Eden Wolfgram also cracked double figures with 11 points, adding a team-high 4 assists.

Yankton enters the SoDak 16 as the # 15 seed, they will take on the #2 seeded Mitchell Kernels on Friday in Mitchell.

Mount Marty Women’s Basketball wrapped up their 2023-24 season on Saturday with an 87 to 62 victory over the College of St. Mary.

Sidney Thue posted a team-high 21 points, followed closely by 20 from Kaela Martinez. Kaity Hove led the Lancers in rebounds with 13 in her final game for Mount Marty.

The Lancers end the year 6 and 22 overall, 2 and 20 in conference play.

Mount Marty Baseball took a 4-0 series sweep over Mayville State University this weekend, in what was the Lancers’ home opener for the season.

On Saturday, The Lancers defeated Mayville 12 to 2 in game one and 8 to 2 in game two. Vaughn Deming tallied 5 RBI over the two games, while Jared Miller and Noah McCandless got wins on the mound.

On Sunday, MMU took an 8 to 0 shutout in the first game, before rallying for an 8 to 7 win in the series finale. Will Gardner went 5 for 7 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored over the two games. Slayder Wattersen and Aspen Dahl took the wins on the mound for MMU.

Next up for the Lancers is a run of ten games in Orlando, Florida, beginning on Saturday.

The Mount Marty Lancers will send 14 athletes to the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships, including 7 individual events and 2 relay teams.

Edwin Nyamutswa will compete in the 60-meter run, 200-meter run, and as a member of the men’s 1600-meter relay team.
Mason Schleis will compete in the men’s heptathlon and as a member of the 1600-meter relay team.
Luke Rettedal will compete in the men’s shot put.
Logan Ferrari will compete in the men’s 5,000-meter run.
Nathaniel Kropuenske will compete as a member of the men’s 1600-meter relay team.
Jacob Kueny will compete as a member of the men’s 1600-meter relay team.
Carl Massa will compete as a member of the men’s 1600-meter relay team.
Zavio Pratto will compete as a member of the men’s 1600-meter relay team.
Calli Davis will compete in the women’s 400-meter run and as a member of the women’s 1600-meter relay team.
Tianna Bumbaca-Kuehl will compete in the women’s 600-meter run and as a member of the women’s 1600-meter relay team.
Lexi Burtzlaff will compete as a member of the women’s 1600-meter relay team.

Cassie Hohrman will compete as a member of the women’s 1600-meter relay team.

Yankton Native Miles Krajewski competed in the Para badminton World Championships in Thailand last week, claiming bronze medals in men’s and mixed doubles.

In mixed doubles, Krajewski and his partner Jayci Simon were eliminated in the semifinals by Lin Naili and Li Fengmai from China, who would go on to claim the gold in the event.

In men’s doubles, Krajewski and his partner Vitor Tavares of Brazil were taken out by Lin Naili and Zeng Qingtao of China. Naili and Qingtao would go on to claim the men’s doubles gold medals.

Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Wrestling sent five athletes to this year’s state tournament, which wrapped up on Saturday in Sioux Falls. Final results for all five are listed below.

Edly Amaro (B-285) – Amaro claimed 8th in the tournament, earning his first podium finish in the state tournament as a Sophomore
Peyton Eustace (B-215) – Eustace finished his tournament with a 0 and 2 record. Eustace returns next season for his Junior year.
Shayce Platt (B-150) – Platt finished 8th in the tournament, finishing on the podium for the first time in his career as a Sophomore.
Dylan Sloan (B-138) – Sloan finished the tournament outside of the top-8. Sloan, a Senior, ends his high school career with a state tournament appearance.
Jaclyn Kyte (G-138) – Kyte finished just outside of a podium spot with a 1 and 2 record in the tournament. Kyte returns next year for her Sophomore season.

A pair of girls wrestlers from Bon Homme-Scotland-Avon were able to claim state titles over the weekend, as Peyton Hellman and Britney Reub won their respective weight classes.

Peyton Hellman captured the state title at 138, defeating Madison Snyder of Sturgis 16 to 3 to claim her 4th straight title.

Britney Reub took the top spot at 120, defeating Lemmon-McIntosh’s Quinn Butler 5 to 2. Rueb, a Sophomore, claims her 2nd state title in the last three years following last year’s runner-up finish.

Yankton Bucks Hockey claimed a 6 to 4 win over Mitchell yesterday afternoon in their final game of the 2023-24 season.

Sophomore Jack Pedersen scored a pair of goals, while Senior Goalie Keenan Wagner recorded 68 saves to propel his team to victory in the final match of his high school career.

Yankton ends the season 9th in the league with a 6-15-0-1 overall record.

The Crofton Girls Basketball team is the # 2 seed in this year’s Class C2 tournament, with their round one game against #7 Clarkson-Leigh scheduled for Wednesday at 1:30 PM in Lincoln. Coverage for the game will be available on Riverfront Sports 94.3 FM.

Cedar Catholic Boys Basketball hosts Lutheran High Northeast tomorrow night in the Class C2 District Finals.

The winner of tomorrow night’s game will earn a spot in this year’s state tournament. Tipoff from Hartington is scheduled for 6:30 PM tomorrow, pregame coverage on Riverfront Sports 94.3 FM begins at 6:15. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.

South Dakota Men’s Basketball edged out Oral Roberts last night 77 to 76, thanks to a go-ahead basket from Bostyn Holt with 5 seconds remaining.

Holt ended the night with a game-high 25 points. He added 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal as well. Lahat Thioune added 19 points and 9 rebounds.

USD is home again on Thursday for Senior Night, as they host North Dakota State.

South Dakota Women’s Basketball was defeated by Oral Roberts last night in Tulsa, Oklahoma, 77 to 63.

Kendall Holmes led USD in scoring with 17 on the night. Grace Larkins added 9 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Next up for USD is a road matchup with North Dakota State on Thursday.

South Dakota State Men’s Basketball picked up their 3rd straight win on Saturday, defeating St. Thomas 77 to 72.

Zeke Mayo led the way for SDSU with 23 points, 5 rebounds, and a pair of assists. Charlie Easley was 2nd in scoring with 17, adding 4 steals as well in the win.

Next up for SDSU is a road matchup with North Dakota on Thursday.

South Dakota State Women’s Basketball moved to 14 and 0 in Summit League play on Saturday, defeating St. Thomas 97 to 63.

SDSU had three players score 20 or more, as Brooklyn Meyer had 26, Paige Meyer had 23, and Madison Mathiowetz had 20.

SDSU are back at home on Thursday, as they host North Dakota.
