A woman has been arrested in the death of an infant in Yankton on Wednesday.
Yankton Police Chief Jason Foote says that first responders were called at approximately 10:57 p.m. to the 700 Block of Capital Street for an unresponsive infant.
Foote says upon arrival at the scene, the infant was transported to the ER and was later declared deceased.
Jennifer Schurman was arrested in the matter and faces charges of Second-Degree Manslaughter, Abuse or Cruelty of a Minor, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Contempt.
The investigation is still ongoing.
