Mount Marty Baseball fell to Concordia last night 10 to 9 in extra innings in their first GPAC tournament game.
Kiko Nunez got the scoring started for MMU, with a two-run home run in the 2nd innings to give the Lancers their first lead. The Lancers would eventually fall in the 11th inning on an RBI single.
The Lancers return to action today at 3:00 PM against Briar Cliff. The winner will play the loser of Midland vs Concordia immediately following, and the loser will be eliminated. Pregame coverage on KYNT will begin at 2:30, Brayden Butler will be on the call.
Mount Marty Softball had their season come to an end yesterday, as they were defeated by Morningside 6 to 4.
Raegan Harper went 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI for the Lancers at the plate. Kayleen Jacinto and Elisabeth McGill added an RBI each as well.
The Lancers finish the regular season with a 21 and 24 overall record. It’s the 4th time in program history the team has won 20 or more games, doing so in each of head coach Kayla Bryant’s three years in charge of the team.
Bryant now has at least a share of the top three spots in program history for wins in a single season.
Yankton Gazelle Softball will be on the road this morning for a matchup against O’Gorman in Sioux Falls.
Yankton is currently 10th in Class AA at 6 and 7 on the year. O’Gorman enters with a 7 and 4 overall record, 7th in Class AA.
First pitch is scheduled for 10:00 AM at Sherman Park in Sioux Falls.
Mount Marty Track and Field is set to compete in day one of the GPAC Conference Meet today in Orange City, Iowa. Events are scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM noon.
Yankton Track and Field will send athletes to compete in two separate events tomorrow, both held in Sioux Falls.
First is the O’Gorman Invitational at O’Gorman High School. Events are scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM tomorrow morning.
Second in the Howard Wood Dakota Relays at Howard Wood Field. Events will begin at 1:00 PM.
Yankton Gazelles Golf will host their home meet tomorrow morning at Hillcrest Country Club in Yankton.
Golfers from 18 schools, including Yankton, are scheduled to compete in the event. Tee time is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Friday.
The Yankton Bucks Middle School Tennis team captured the ESD Conference Championship yesterday, scoring 221 points as a team.
Conner Mitzel was the Flight 3 Champion for the Bucks with Brady Ness winning the Flight 4 title. Ivan Krajewski was 2nd in Flight 1, being forced to withdraw due to injury.
Also finishing top-4 for the Bucks, Gibson Brooks was 2nd at Flight 6, Abe Hanson was 3rd at Flight 5, and Zane Becker was 4th at Flight 1.
Yankton High School Tennis has a meet tomorrow in Brookings at the Hillcrest Tennis Courts.
The Bucks will face Huron at 10:00 AM and Aberdeen Central at 12:30 during the event. Yankton and Brookings will not play eachother.
